COVID-19 Procedures

We are all very excited to be able to host another season of Heartland Futbol Recreational soccer.  However, it is also important to recognize that this season will be different than what we have been accustomed to in previous years.  There will be several new procedures that are being put in place to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Please help us in complying with these procedures so we can do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 by minimizing exposure.  Please take the time to review this list as well as familiarize yourself with where to enter/exit the soccer complex and understand the "Family Zones".  In the event of any type of resurgence or non-compliance we could be without soccer again with absolutely no warning!  If you or anyone you know tests positive for COVID-19 that attended any HFC soccer game, please notify us immediately.

These recommendations do not supersede or replace any applicable local, state, regional or federal health guidelines or requirements, which should be adhered to by all.

Before Attending
  • Check for symptoms before leaving the house including a temperature check.
    • Symptoms can include: cough, sore throat, shorthness of breath, fever (100.4 or more temperature), sudden loss of smell or taste
    • Someone has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (must follow state-mandated quarantine requirements)
  • Refrain from carpooling and/or traveling with other participants not in your immediate household.  If you must carpool please consider wearing a mask in the car.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged to be worn by any non-participants, participants may also wear masks if they prefer.
  • It is encouraged that only immediate family members attend the games (we understand that grandparents may be bringing your children to the games as well).
  • It is encouraged to bring your own hand sanitizer which should be used before and after games.

Upon Arriving
  • Games have been scheduled 30 minutes from the previous games scheduled end time.  Please allow for everyone to exit the playing area before entering the complex.
  • Enter the designated gates into the complex and properly social distance going through the gates.  The designated entry can be seen here.
  • Head straight to your designated field.  Per state procedures, do not sit on the benches along the fence, one can be seen here.
  • Sit in a "Family Zone" where all members of a family sit together and space yourself 6 feet away from another "Family Zone".  If that means a "Family Zone" is on an end of the field and/or behind the goal that will be permissible this year.  Grand Island Parks has marked many of these "Family Zones" already.  They can be seen here.

During the game
  • Please do not handle any soccer ball that goes out of bounds.  Allow the players or referee to retrieve the ball. This will be extremely important for our U6 age group and how those games work.  For more about how we implement the play for our U6 Coed division please check the U6 Coed page.
  • In the event of sudden bad weather go straight to your cars and do not head toward the concession stand and/or bathroom.
  • In the event of an injury allow just the coach to attend to the player.
  • Please stay in marked "Family Zones".

After the game
  • Players will be unable to do the traditional end of game "good game" high five. Encourage them at the end of the game by clapping/waving and saying "good game".
  • Due to US Soccer "PLAY ON" guidelines, we can not allow for the distribution of snacks and/or drinks at the end of games.  As an alternative option, the concession stand will be selling tickets for 1.50 that can be given to the coach to distribute.  This price will allow for the kids to have a variety of choices from the concession stand.  We encourage adults using this option to sanitize hands prior to receiving tickets.
  • Exit the playing area as quickly as possible at the end of the game.
  • Exit to the designated gates out of the complex and properly social distance going through the gates.  The exit gate will be located next to the concession stand and can be seen here.

Concession Stand
  • The concession stand will be open.  Please observe the 6 foot social distancing while standing in line.
  • There will be hand sanitizer at the concession stand as well for anyone to use as they need and it is strongly recommended to use some if you don't bring any yourself.
